A wedding has gone viral on TikTok after showcasing a ‘genius’ way to set single attendees up with each other.

In a clip that has now hit racked up over 2million views, Killah Kelli, a therapist from LA, shared the ‘singles sheet’ on each table at a wedding she recently attended.

This unique matchmaking tool featured two pictures of each eligible guest, so other ‘ready to mingle’ people would be free to approach those they fancied without worrying if they were in a relationship.

‘Business in the front (LinkedIn), party in the back (IG),’ Kelli joked in the video’s caption, in reference to the bride and groom’s clever use of LinkedIn and Instagram profile pictures on either side of the page.

And it seems her followers enjoyed the concept too – including one who begged, ‘Can we make this mandatory for all weddings now?’

‘Normalise this lol,’ wrote @thechristenmarie, while others called it ‘genius’ or said ‘I would go to farrrr more weddings if this was a standard.’

There were some who had their reservations about it though, pointing out you’d need to get the guests’ permission to put them on the document.

‘I’ll be the downer because I would hate this, wrote one commenter. ‘Maybe if they got everyone’s permission, but being single at a wedding is already a weird experience and some singles are not looking.’

There were also a few who found it embarrassing, posting comments like, ‘If someone did this to me I’d pass away,’ and ‘I would dip so fast.’

However, the largely positive reception isn’t all that surprising given that ‘dating fatigue’ is a huge issue for singles. In fact, 78% of dating app users in a 2024 Forbes Health study said they felt ’emotionally, mentally, or physically exhausted’ by them.

Among 18 to 24 year olds particularly, 57% are ditching dating apps in favour of waiting to meet someone in real life, prompting alternative services such as Thursday (which hosts IRL dating events on, you guessed it, Thursdays) to pop up to help people meet in-person rather than online.

How else can you meet someone in real life?

If you don’t have any upcoming weddings, try this technique to increase your chances of finding love in the wild.

Lingering’ is essentially the idea that if you choose to be more present and spend more time at your favourite haunts, you’re more likely to meet someone organically who you already have something in common with.

You can then score dates from these interactions and form a romantic connection.

International matchmaker Sarah Louise Ryan insists that lingering can only work wonders in your dating life.

She told Metro: ‘The more you put yourself out there in the real world, surrounded by people in real life, the more likely you are to create opportunities for dating.’

‘With the conversion rate from swipes to dates being lower than most think, it makes sense that being out there in the world will create more human interactions.

‘Even if the people you meet are not single, it will boost the muscle of confidence when having social interactions.

‘Furthermore, meeting someone in person forges genuine connection quicker as you can see more of their character, personality, demeanour and way of being with others.’
