Stripping off to get frisky in the cold chill of winter can be hard… but what better season to get hot under the covers?
Sex and relationship expert at Lovehoney, Annabelle Knight, has revealed six positions that will instantly spice things up if you’re on a mission(ary) to stay warm.
Who knows, the first ‘thigh-burner’ might even help you save on heating bills…
The accordion
We’ll get into some entry level positions a little later, but we couldn’t kick things off with anything but the accordion — a challenging but wildly enjoyable set up, if you start off on the right note.
The ‘giving’ partner lies on their back with legs bent and raised, while the receiver straddles with their feet positioned on either side. The partner lying down will need to hook their legs around their partner’s arms, and use their hands to pull the other as close as possible.
Annabelle advises: ‘If you’re on top, reach back with your hands and use your partner’s hips for balance and support.’
You’ll be engaging plenty of muscles which is sure to leave you a little sweaty, as will the inevitable tangle of limbs.
‘The accordion is guaranteed to have the thighs of the person on top burning in all the right ways,’ Annabelle adds.

The cocooned cowgirl
Next up is a take on the classic cowgirl, an intimate position that helps lovers get up close and personal.
The penetrating partner lies flat on their back, just like the standard position, while the receiver plants their feet on either side of them.

But instead of staying upright, the receiver wraps themselves in a blanket and cocoons themselves against their partner — with torsos pressed up close and elbows on either side of their face.
‘Maintain this skin-on-skin contact,’ Annabelle advises. ‘Grind back and forth against one another, and there’ll be plenty of clitoral and G-spot stimulation to benefit from.’
Alternatively you could just leave your jumper on. Whatever you’re into.
The all-season spoon
Sharing body heat can only be a good thing as the cold nips at your toes and spooning will get you as close to each other as physically possible.
And, according to Annabelle, in the quest for warmth, bodies rubbing up against one another under the sheets, you’re bound to find yourself in the perfect lazy lovemaking position: spooning.’
With the penetrating partner behind, you can enjoy slow, cosy sex for as long as you last.

Lotus lounging
Much like the cowgirl, the lotus position is all about skin-on-skin and eye contact, which can result in a really intense emotional connection, according to Annabelle.
The giving partner sits on the edge of a bed, on a chair, or with their back supported against a wall, while the receiver sits on top and wraps their legs around their partner.
Annabelle advises pressing your torsos together and hugging tightly, before movingslowly and sensually, grinding against each other for perfect penetration and clitoral stimulation.
Again, you could keep a jumper on for added warmth.

Snow angel
A classic winter pastime is getting an X-rated makeover with this one, in the form of the sexy snow angel.
‘This NSFW version has the receiver lying flat on their back with arms and legs spread wide,’ Annabelle explains.
She says the giving partner should place their hands on either side of the receiver’s face and hover as they enter for ultra-deep penetration.

This position is essentially missionary on its side, with the receiver’s arms and legs wrapped around their partner. Annabelle describes it as a giant naked hug.
Once you’ve assumed the position, you can move together, rocking backwards and forward for a slow and sensual tandem journey to the finish line.
‘Be sure to whisper something dirty in their ear while you’re at it,’ she adds.
